Duzinda will be a feature film, a loose adaptation of the eponymous novel by Clotilde Chaparro, a prestigious and award-winning author from Brasília. The film portrays the moral harassment of women in Brazilian society during the 1930s, seen through the eyes, body, and spirit of Duzinda, a young woman who dreamed of the fairy-tale prince arriving on a winged horse, just as she saw on the cinema screens of the small town where she lived in the interior of São Paulo. After two children, tuberculosis took her to a sanatorium in Campos do Jordão. Considered dead and morally buried by her family, she rises like a Phoenix to live a life of achievements and prestige, transforming into an influential leader of the suffragist movement and laying the foundation for the independent woman’s triumphs, which continue to this day in the 21st century.
